The truth of the matter is that having healthy
skin is very important when you have an ostomy.
To be honest I use Ostomy Supplies when it comes to items I
purchase because I know they are tuned to be healthy for my skin. Yes, we have all heard that sun is bad and
can cause so much damage. THat is why we have been putting sun tan lotion on
for as long as I can remember. Its a
must for going to the beach. You don’t want to get sunburn and to have skin
issues. Skin cancer is very real and
being overly exposed can literally kill you.
It can at the very least inconvenience your life in ways you never
imagined. So when someone goes a little overboard about protecting their skin
from the sun, it is just as important to keep your skin healthy if you have a
Ostomy and are dealing with a stoma on a day to day basis.
One of the most important parts of having a
normal life after getting an ostomy surgery is taking care of the skin around
the stoma. It is now a vital part of
your life and you want to make sure it doesn't hinder you. In a small way imagine having razer burn but
you are forced to shave every single day or even twice a day. It can be painful and dangerous which also
leads to many problem down the road. The skin around your stoma is actually
called the peristomal skin. It is kinda inevitable that you will have some skin
issues at some point in your life. Just
like when we all use sun tan lotion and we still get a sun burn! But it is
still important to protect yourself as much as possible.
Using Hollister Ostomy Supplies has
helped a bunch in my life and has kept
me from really having issues. You don’t
have to live with pain and skin issues.
If you use the correct equipment and care it can almost always be
avoided. There are studies showing up to 75% of people have skin irritation
near their stoma and that number is way too high.
Taking care of your skin is
key and when your daily routine involves dealing with your peristomal skin, its
imperative you treat it right. If you feel sore or it looks damaged at all,
make sure to go see your doctor immediately as this is important for your
health.
